Jackson, Tenn. – Simmons Bank announced the promotion of Chuck Newell to community division president for Tennessee. In his new role, Newell will be responsible for managing community revenue lines and stewarding customer relationships and growth among one of Simmons Bank’s most rapidly growing markets. Newell reports to Freddie Black, chief community banking officer for Simmons Bank.
Before joining Simmons Bank as community president in 2018, Newell held leadership roles at Tennessee financial institutions including First Horizon Corporation and First Tennessee Bank. “With more than 40 years of experience, Chuck has a proven track record and a genuine passion for our customers and associates,” said Black. “We welcome his leadership as we expand our customer base throughout the state.”
As an alumnus of Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi, Newell received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance and graduated with honors. He graduated with a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Memphis and is an alumnus of the Graduate School of Commercial Lending in Norman, Oklahoma.
He currently serves as a member of the Government Relations Committee and as a member of the Financial Products and Services, Inc. board of directors with the Tennessee Bankers Association.
