The second annual agricultural summit sponsored by Simmons Bank will be held Wednesday, Jan. 25, at the Pine Bluff Convention Center. The summit features some of the agricultural industry's leading experts discussing the economic landscape, the future of commodity pricing and recent scientific developments.
The summit begins at 10 a.m. and lasts until 3:30 p.m. Lunch will be served.
There's no registration fee, but advance registration is required. Those interested in attending can register online at www.simmonsbank.com/agrisummit. Those who register by Jan. 18 will be entered in a drawing for a $1,000 gift card from Mack's Prairie Wings at Stuttgart.
Featured speakers include:
- Richard Brock of Brock Associates, one of the top agricultural marketing consulting firms in the country. Brock will discuss the current farm economy, the outlook for commodity pricing and strategies for sales. Brock is publisher of The Brock Report, a 20-page weekly commodity newsletter.
- Jay Mahaffey, the manager of the Scott Learning Center for the Monsanto, Co. Mahaffey earlier worked as the staff entomologist for Delta & Pine Land Co. He participated in the development of new see treatments and cotton varieties for markets around the world.
- Bryan Bomar, the Southern integration manager for Archer Daniels Midland. Bomar is responsible for the development and deployment of new and existing products and services for Southern farmers.
There also will be a panel on agricultural financial management consisting of accountant Mary Ellen Greenway, financial planner Wayne Beaty of the 4B Co., Chad Carlson of Simmons Wealth Management and Mike Gillis, Tommy Jarrett and Chad Pittillo of Simmons Bank.
